General Workers

PURPOSE:

• General maintenance work and assistance.

• To perform a variety of tasks that ensure proper running of a game reserve.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Grade 10/Standard 8 (Essential/Minimum)
•    AET Level 4 (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE: 

0-6 months Relevant job-specific experience within a farming environment as a general worker  (Essential/Minimum)   Operational

REQUIREMENTS: 
•    Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
•    Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)

Maintenance

• Conduct general maintenance services and related assistance
• Fence maintenance
• Game water provision and maintenance
• Water reticulation system installation and maintenance
• Road construction and maintenance
• Development and construction of fixed infrastructure
• Bush-clearing and alien plant eradication

Safe and Healthy Work Environment  

• Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis
• Address all unsafe practices and potential hazardous situations, rectify/report to superior
• Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC)/technical requirements
• Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times
• Comply with SHEC and technical Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements
• Complete Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA’s)

Support Services

• Assist and support in all relevant activities within field of responsibility and level of competence
• Communicate effectively with and assist Supervisors and related personnel with ad hoc activities
• Conduct inspections and report defects
• Carry out, monitor and maintain erosion repairs and site management works
