Basic salary: R 195 525 p.a

Requirements
– Minimum Grade 12 Certificate
– 18 years or older
– Must be willing to complete practical and theoretical firefighting training
– Be stationed at any Fire Station within the City of Cape Town
– Work 40 hours per week and shifts
– Previous experience in fire related industry would be advantageous
(i.e. Wildland Firefighter 1and/or Wildland Firefighter 2)
– Work additional hours/overtime on short notice
– Work in a team and cope with stressful situations
– No criminal record

NOTE: All shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake and
pass the following compulsory fitness test
– Reach test (1.9 m)
– 2.4 km run (Males 12 minutes and Females 13 minutes)
– Push-ups (30 in 60 seconds)
– Sit-ups (30 in 60 seconds)
– Dead load carry (2 x 25 kg drums a distance of 100 m)
NOTE: Candidates who pass the physical test will:
– be required to pass a written assessment and interview
– be required to submit their fingerprints or identity numbers for the purpose of checking criminal records. No other criminal clearances will be acceptable
– be required to undergo a medical evaluation
– be required to undergo a compulsory drug test

 

Key Performance Areas
– Carry out fire-fighting operations under guidance
– To respond to and combat vegetation fires.
– To check and maintain fire-fighting equipment.
– Check, clean and maintain fire fighting vehicles.
– To carry out fire station duties and maintenance.
– Assist with clearing of fire breaks.
– Undergo continuous training.
